Leisure and sport

The Ulm / Neu-Ulm region is beautifully located both on the Danube and at the southern edge of the Swabian Alb. This ensures a wide range of leisure and sporting offerings are available. Popular holiday destinations like Austria, Switzerland, Italy or France are quick and easy to get to.

Alongside numerous local leisure regions such as the “Friedrichsau” or “Duft- und Tastgarten” (sensory garden) the region offers a zoo with aquarium, a botanical garden as well as several leisure baths, for example, “Wonnemar” in Neu-Ulm or “Bad Blau” in Blaustein. All these establishments are easily reached using the public transportation systems and thus offer a wide range of opportunities for rest and relaxation.

And if you want something to experience, that is also on offer too. The old fashioned car factory in Neu-Ulm offers car lovers the opportunity to wonder and dream, whereas Legoland in Guenzburg offers a variety and adventure for and with your children. With the construction of the new climbing hall in Neu-Ulm, a large climbing centre was created between Stuttgart and Munich and, for all fans of basketball and other sports or musical events, the “ratiopharmarena” which offers space for up to 6,000 people was built.

The Swabian Alb or the Danube Valley both invite visitors to hike or take a relaxed bike ride with the entire family. And fans of water sports are able to take kayaking and canoeing trips on the Danube or the Iller. Whether a leisure water sportsperson or a more ambitious sportspersons, the Ulm-based “Ulmer Ruderclub Donau e. V. and “Ulmer Kanufahrer” offer ideal opportunities.

For the small citizens, the towns of Ulm and Neu-Ulm also offer several, well-kept playgrounds and adventure playgrounds. These invite youngsters to enjoy a wide range of exciting games and offer plenty of space for games.
